Family reunification is a key objective of Canada Immigration that is why Canada Immigration is open to any qualified person who wants to sponsor their family to come and live in Canada. If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident who is 18 years of age or older, you may sponsor family members who wants to immigrate to Canada. The family class category facilitates the reunification of Canadian citizens and permanent residents with their families.
A Canadian citizen or permanent resident can sponsor, as members of the family class the following persons:

Spouse

A common-law partner which includes a person who is cohabiting in a conjugal relationship with a person (whether of the same sex or not), having so cohabited for at least one year

A dependent son or daughter who is un-married including adopted children under the age of 22.

Father or mother

Grandfather or grandmother

Orphan Brother, sister, nephew, niece, grandson or granddaughter who is under 22 years of age and unmarried.

Any other relative related by blood or adoption regardless of age or relationship, where the Canadian citizen or permanent resident does not have a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, son, daughter, father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, orphaned brother or sister, orphaned nephew or niece, orphaned grandchild, and if the sponsor doesn’t have a relative listed above who is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a registered Indian under the Indian Act.
